Kleefstra Syndrome—Dental Manifestations and Needs: A Case Report with a Literature Review

Kleefstra syndrome (KS) is a rare genetic disorder ( prevalence < 1 / 000 ) characterised by autistic spectrum (ASD), childhood hypotonia, and seizures. A typical facial appearance includes microcephaly, arched eyebrows, synophrism, hypertelorism, short nose, midface hypoplasia, prognathism, tongue protrusion. This case report presents 19-year-old female with KS from dentist’s perspective. The patient demonstrates limited mouth opening slight deviation of the mandible on left side. mandibular prognathism anterior open bite are visible. generalised inflammatory gingival enlargement most likely response to local irritants like plaque calculus but enhanced patient’s breathing habit. Also, unusually large—macroglossia. Dental anomalies were diagnosed digital panoramic radiograph, including dilaceration maxillary second premolar taurodontism. was qualified be treated under general anaesthesia multiple extractions, restorations, hygienisation procedures, tooth remineralisation. individual should also considered for orthodontic treatment an eventual reduction procedure. In KS, multidisciplinary cooperation as well frequent dental check-ups fluoride prophylaxis recommended. Unfortunately, still not integral part taking care disabled children youth diseases.
